We will be starting a mini film unit called Facing Sudan.  This unit has a focus on Sudan and has been put together by Bruce David Janu.

After viewing and discussing the film, students will present a personal reflection through a means of their choice such as a speech to the class, dance, movie, essay, fiction, etc.  Students will be able to choose one of several questions developed by the class to explore and will then come up with an additional question to explore in their personal reflection.

Today we started making building our blogs and adding them to the classroom website.  The first task for students to complete was a short blog about their summer or something significant that happened in their lives.

March is National Nutrition Month.  In lieu of this we will learning about nutrition in health and making food diaries so that we can keep track of how we are eating.  Part of our health classes will be spent analyzing our diaries and looking at how we can make healthier food choices.

The students have received their spelling words for the week.  We will be focusing on "ie" words.  Here is the spelling list:
1. field
2. shield
3. friend
4. ancient
5. ingredient
6. yield
7. brief
8. relief
9. piece
10. science

The spelling words can be located and practiced online.  Follow this link

Reminder: I still need skating permission forms.  Please have them in to me by Friday March 5, 2010.  Please leave me a message if you need another form.  Parents, you are welcome to come skating, even if it is only to help tie and untie skates.  I am still in need of at least two more parent volunteers.

Have good day.
